Dr. Mazeyar Parvinzadeh Gashti is presenting at our Fibershed monthly meeting this Tuesday, May 26th 7-8pm 🌱 He is an Assistant Professor in the chemistry department at Pittsburg State University in Kansas with a PhD degree on fibers and textiles. His current research is fully focused on various natural resources for fiber and textile production. He currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Great Lakes Section of the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists, External Judge for the New York Fashion Innovation Center, and Committee Member for the Textile Certification Program for High School Students at the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.
His presentation will focus on his journey in the wool and textile industry, how it began with a curiosity about fibers and their transformation into high-performance materials. Over time, it has evolved into a focus on sustainable processing, functional finishes, and innovative textile technologies that address modern challenges.
His research focuses on textile chemistry, sustainable textile processing, functional materials, and advanced fiber technologies, with particular expertise in wool processing and wool functionalization. His work has involved the development of innovative treatments and surface modification technologies for wool fibers to improve performance, dyeability, antimicrobial functionality, and sustainability. Dr. Gashti’s broader research interests include bio-based polymers, smart textiles, antimicrobial finishes, sustainable coloration technologies, and advanced textile wet processing systems. He actively collaborates with academic and industrial partners on sustainable and high-performance textile innovations. We are so excited for this presentation and hope you will join us. As always, this meeting will be recorded for those who cannot make that time.
